Our hope is that there will be many long-term and short-term meditation retreats for peace across the world; that we are a part of a larger movement.
This group of retreatants trained at Diamond Mountain University has a high likelihood of success for three key reasons:
- They are being led by teachers who previously completed a three-year silent meditation retreat from March 3, 2000 to June 6, 2003. Since completing this retreat, Geshe Michael Roach and Lama Christie McNally have demonstrated their ability to break-down divisions by teaching the causes for peace for free to tens of thousands of people in mainland China, Mongolia, India, Japan, Israel, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Mexico, Brazil, Morocco and the United States. A large part of their time has been dedicated to teaching and preparing the core group of students who will undertake the three-year retreat.
- Extensive training: the average retreatant will have completed 12 years of detailed classroom study of ancient monastic texts to prepare for retreat; 4-5 months or more of long-term silent meditation retreats; as well as maintained a daily meditation and yoga practice for many years.
- This international group of retreatants has already demonstrated their commitment to serve and teach others by extensively teaching around the world for free. They share the teachings they’ve gained from their teachers and their meditation. They intend, with greater wisdom and ability, to continue teaching and serving others after three-year retreat.
